Who's ready to read this winter?Read 8 books from our library's physical and digital collections during December and January, log your titles in Beanstack or on your own book log, and earn a new set of badges! The books can be paper books, audiobooks and eBooks or any combination of the three. Readers who complete the challenge will earn the chance

Santa has scheduled a visit at the Vinton Public Library on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.Join Santa Claus for a special Storytime and make a puzzle craft while you're there. Of course there will be a yummy cookie treat to enjoy as well!The library is located at 510 2nd Ave. in Vinton.

 Kirkwood Community College’s Iowa Equestrian Center will host the third annual Deck the Stalls event on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.The family-friendly experience will feature activities for people of all ages. Attendees will be able to enjoy horse and pony rides, farm animals, a mechanical bull, vendors, a shopping village and a hot cocoa bar.

In an event held by the Benton County Historical Society,  Santa will be at the Vinton Train Depot.Join Us for a Festive Day with Santa on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Bring the whole family for a day of holiday cheer! Santa will be visiting, and everyone is welcome! Enjoy free cocoa and cookies while making memories.

Breakfast with Santa will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM.Breakfast includes breakfast, photo op, and treat from Santa!Eat breakfast at 9:00 AM and visit Santa at 10:00 AM. If you haven't already registered, we will take drop-ins, however, there will be a $5.00 late fee per family. LOCATION: Skate & Activity Center          FEE: $5.

The Festival of Trees in Belle Plaine will showcase the artistic talents of area businesses, organizations, and families through trees they decorate for this holiday event. Visitors to the festival can bring coins to vote on their favorite tree, with the three trees getting the most votes getting gift baskets. The top prize is valued at over $375, the second at over $275, and the third at over $175.

The LPC Womens Club "Homes for the Holidays" Tour of Homes will be held Sunday, December 8th from 4:30-7:00 pm.  The four homes and one business that will be on the tour this year are Ryan & Crystal Wisenbach, 3214 Benson Ave, Brandon, IA, Nick & Terri Donlea, 2814 Benson Shade Grove Ave, Jesup, IA (both Wisenbach and Donlea homes are in the same area and will be worth the drive), Tracey Schmitz Horne and Tim Horne, 7502 E Reinbeck Rd, La Porte City, BJ & Andrea McMahon, 12106 Kober Rd, La Porte City and Old Stone Bistro, 203 Main St, La Porte City.

Wesley United Methodist Church will host a Live Nativity performance at their location 516 2nd Ave. Vinton.Please join us as our youth along with live animals share the meaning of the Christmas season. Performances will take place in our outside stables on Saturday, December 7 from 5-6 p.m. and again from 6-7 p.m.Luke 2 Mary gave birth to Jesus and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger.
